The MZ3c is undoubtedly one of the most sophisticated zappers on the market today.
It has features aimed toward professional users,
as well as well informed users.
It is ready, as a zapper, to be used on :
General zapping, with its automatic, improved 7-20 sequence
Continuous zapping (3h max)
Plate zapping (30kHz, 8.9V minimum)

This zapper uses an adjustable constant current source (VCCS) maintaining the output curren to your best, safe level, for a powerful, safe zapping session.
Its output circuit maintains a square shape, rich in harmonics, equivalent or even better than all super stabilised wave forms.
Its CVS gives a regulated 10.8V to the VCCS circuits from beginning to end of the battery life. You can expect same good results on all sessions, all day long.
Four fully automatic sequences, with a sleep function at the end of sequence makes it easy to use in any circumstance.
The FV sweep and narrow 2.5kHz sweep frequencies will replace
most of the frequency modules on other zappers, at a fraction of their cost.

Why a Constant Current Source? (Very technical stuff) (extract from our main maual)
A zapper kills parasites because of the action of its battery (Direct Current), making possible to a direct flow of current to run into our body.
No matter the voltage applied, you will need a MINIMUM of CURRENT at destination, and no much more, for obvious safety reasons : We want to kill pathogens IN VIVO (You, staying alive (:-)
For these same reasons, even a simple 9V battery can be lethal if this very low voltage is applied directly across the hearth, without any current limiting device (called a RESISTOR).
Ohms Law I=V/R explain the mathematical part of this fact.
This is why the original zapper had a 1000_Ohms resistor to limit maximum current in a safe, simple and inexpensive way.
Our design problem with zappers, is that most electronic circuits, including the popular 555 oscillator, work with VOLTAGE, current being only a Ohms Law “side effect”.
Because the skin is a wonderful protector against many external aggressions, including Direct Current, a zapper uses a “high frequency” to overpass this protection, and a square wave to build harmonics, who are higher frequencies passing even better the skin barrier.
Many manufacturers place a High Pass Filter on the output resistor, to permit to high frequencies to better pass through the output stage.
Simple, precise words not selling very well, buzzwords like “expensive super stabilized waves”, “constant waves” and other definitions had been attributed to this simple circuit.
One of the consequences of this High Pass Filter has been to decrease the original output impedance to almost 0, leaving the zapper without any safety, current wise.
To resume:
1_ Controlling current is the obvious way to make a zapper work well, as intended
2_ Most electronic circuits are available with voltage control only.
3_ To make a safe, efficient zapper, we need to introduce into the output stage a very fast (harmonics) current control circuit.
4_ This Current Control Circuit has an electronic name : A constant Current Source
The main problem with this “Fast Reacting, Constant Current Source” circuit, is that it is more difficult/expensive to implement that the 555 zapper itself.
Because at Maestro-Zapper we want to make good, safe, efficient, state of the art zappers, we have designed this circuit for our MZ3c.
Even more : Many of our customers have requested an adjustable output for their zapper, finding “super powerful zappers” with voltages in excess of 12V, uncomfortable to use, specially with sensitive skins.
The designed Adjustable Constant Current Source has many interesting characteristics :
1_ Adjustable from a low 1.5mA to a powerful 7mA. Original zapper had a peak current of around 3.5mA. Some zappers are still efficient with 1.5mA. No need to go to up the 7mA limit to have good results. Like a car, being able to go up to 180km/h doesn’t means we have to go at this high speed all the time!!
For most uses, 1.5 to 3mA will be enough.
2_ High speed reaction well under 1uS (0.000001s) permits to this circuit to work without any scary High pass filter of any kind, and gives sharp square waves, rich in harmonics.
3_ This very fast reaction time permits a strong, firm, safe control of current no mater how the load (you) could react.
This last point, never mentioned, is a real nightmare when you start trying to resolve-it.
Most zappers have no control, for a very good reason :
How your body will react to a voltage source? : In many different ways, depending on:
Tiredness, health, age of the person;
From the relative humidity of the skin at points of contact;
The quality of the skin;
From the contact area;
From the voltage applied between the contact points.
And of utmost importance to us: From the frequency used.
Controlling the current as we do makes this last point an obsolete problem : Current value sticks to the need adjusted by you. If your body varies its impedance, the VCCS will adjust itself and continue to give the requested current, by design.
